The Hopital Sacre-Coeur receives every week mission group from different part of the United States
This group put together by Henriot St-Gerard, M.D., president of the Class of ’72 Association, was the first composed of Haitians only. It was an interesting surprise for the staff and for the patients.
On Monday, everybody work at different clinics according to his specialty.
Dr. Loiseau was in the operating room the rest of the week, with the resident and he also assisted Dr. Bernard the surgeon of the hospital. His presence was appreciated and the word that was nice to hear: let's use Dr. Loiseau's technique.
Dr. Prosper work everyday at the pediatrics clinic and made round with the residents and he had helped in the management of certain hospitalized patients.
Dr. Augustin did a very good job at the specialty clinics of hypertension and diabetes
Dr. St-Gerard, not only work in the operating room with the nurses anesthetics but had some educational sessions with them. He also helped put together two new anesthesia machines. He had the opportunity to discuss the placement of central lines.
Dr. Demetrius shared his knowledge about rehabilitation medicine, a specialty not well known in Haiti. He also helped in the outpatient clinic
Colette St-Gerard made herself available in the PACU and assisted in the care of some critical patients. She had also worked with Dr. Augustin in the specialty clinics.
Monique Augustin was around with Sister Ann and spent time in the nutrition center.
The week went fast and needless to say that we plan to return better prepared.
