Register NOW! 10th Earthquake Anniversary Conference

Purpose: This conference seeks to gather health professionals within and outside of Haiti to take a critical look at the outcomes of the aids provided in past disasters to better prepare for responding to future events. In the days of global climate change, it is highly likely that countries like Haiti will continue to face natural events that will disrupt lives and adversely affect the normal functioning of communities. The outcome of this conference will result in a clearer understanding of approaches to disasters and a plan to more swiftly respond to these events.

  • Statement of Need

    • The unprecedented devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake which struck Haiti resulted in the death of more than 250,000 Haitians and the displacement of more than 1.5 million individuals. The outpouring of support from around the world has however resulted in a huge waste of resources scattered all over the fields or of affected sites and there have been no measurable outcomes. Therefore, the AMHE leadership, in collaboration with the Haitian Red Cross (HRC) and the Protection Civile of Haiti has elected to focus their attention on the impact of the earthquake, the inadequate delivery of health services, and the distribution of much-needed resources. Selected topics featuring at the Conference will describe the most commonly pressing matters facing such an operation in terms of delivery, sustainability, satisfaction-proven efforts that can contribute result-oriented and measurable outcomes to the well-being of the community..

  • Target Audience

    • Physicians and Allied Healthcare Professionals, Governmental and non-governmental organizations, individuals interested in furthering their knowledge on the impact of the 2010 earthquake and the current delivery of health care and other support systems.

  • Educational Objectives

At the end of the conference, participants will be able to:
